You ever think about what you are thinking about?

Updated: May 3

This title is something everyone should ponder within one’s lifetime. How is it you can think a thought, then be able to think about the thought you are having.? They say the average man and woman thinks about 60,000 thoughts a day. According to many studies, most of those thoughts are negative in nature, meaning most of the thoughts are not about self-promotion and progression toward a worthy idea, but of demotion and a never-ending trek toward illusion and deception. This mindset leads to anxiety, depression, and a deep feeling of hopelessness. But there is hope, the cure is totally within your control.

How can you have a thought about what you are thinking about? For example, you can have a thought about yelling at your child about breaking a glass in the kitchen, then you have another thought about that thought, suggesting that is not the right course of action. Who is making that suggestion about your original thought? I may be wrong, but I think that second thinker is the real you.

All our lives we have been trained in the belief that our thoughts are who we are. I say that is not true and is very bad programming of people. I believe most of our thoughts are passing illusions in our mind. Kind of like water moving under a motoring boat. I feel our thoughts are more like the commercials you see on a television set. You may see a commercial (and there are a lot of them) on the television, but never once do you think the commercials are the television or part of the television. It is just the advertiser pushing a product or idea on you through manipulation. Our thoughts are pretty much the same. Our thoughts are our ego pushing and idea or concept on us through manipulation. The reason I use the word manipulation is because your ego, though thinking it is protecting you, bends reality into what it wants you to think.

You (I believe) were born so that God can experience his creation uniquely thru your existence. Your ego on the other hand was created by you and your reaction to the environment you grew up in. The problem is your ego (that you designed) is having a vast majority of the 60,000 thoughts that are going through your head. Some say this percentage is about 95%. In the ancient Orient this endless chatter in your head is called the Monkey Mind.

I could write a book on this subject, but the point of this blog is to get you to think more about thinking. The more you can quiet the Monkey Mind, the more you can hear the God within. This elusive achievement is called Peace. There are numerous ways and philosophies on how to achieve peace of mind. Your job is to find a way (that works for you) to quiet your mind so you can hear your real self, which is God.

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

Psalm 82:6-7 KJV
