What is the past?

Think about it, you’re trying to run a race, but you’re chained to the starting line. That’s exactly what happens when you dwell on the past. The truth? The past can’t be changed. It can’t be fixed. But it can be relived, over and over again. And if you’re not careful, those old memories start getting edited, dramatized, even exaggerated… until you’re living in a distorted loop of what was instead of what is.
So why keep giving your past rent-free space in your mind and soul?
When you pour your energy into reliving old hurts, regrets, or “what-ifs,” you're robbing yourself of your greatest resource: the present moment. Right now, is where your power lives. That energy you're spending on old wounds could be used to build your future, creating your peace, or unlocking a new level of purpose. Instead, it’s fueling a fire that’s already burned out.
Does that mean your past is irrelevant? Not at all. It means your past is meant to be studied, not worshipped. Learn from it. Pull out the lessons. Understand what it revealed about you and the world around you. But then, leave it where it belongs.
The rearview mirror is small for a reason. Glance back when you need to. But never let it guide your journey forward.
So, take the wisdom, drop the weight (the narrative), and move forward. Because your future can’t begin until your past stops commanding the stage—and you take the mic back.
